The Place for Children with Autism is excited to announce the expansion of their center in Urbana, Illinois. Along with adding an additional 4,000 square feet to the center’s treatment space, The Place for Children with Autism expects to add several new services to the Urbana center’s offerings.
This expansion will allow the center to begin serving families with children in grades 1-5 starting with a summer full day program, followed by a fall 2019-2020 after school program. The Place for Children with Autism is enrolling for both of these programs now. The center is also currently accepting applications for half-day preschool enrollment for the 2019-2020 school year that families can begin enrolling in now.
Families who enroll can expect their children to receive Applied Behavior Analysis Therapy supervised by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and delivered by a Registered Behavior Technician in a school-style setting. Each of The Place’s centers employs trained therapists and helps families verify insurance coverage to ensure every child has the opportunity to lead a happy and productive life.
With a new and innovative space also comes a variety of innovative services. The center’s expansion is set to include an adaptive living skills room, a computer lab for coding, an indoor treehouse, climbing walls and an indoor greenhouse. The Place for Children is going beyond ABA therapy, engaging children in extracurricular and recreational activities that can help support their development and progress in therapy.
In addition to these new spaces, The Place for Children with Autism is branching out to provide several extra-curricular activities to support the holistic development of the children they serve.
Children will be able to enjoy electives in:
- Photography
- Videography
- Art
- Drama
- Music
- Fitness & more
The Urbana center’s expansion is the result of requests from parents in the community for an alternative to public schooling that is inclusive to their children’s needs. The center’s website is readily accepting applicants and assisting with insurance verification.
