Autism-Friendly Spaces and Events

With growing awareness and acceptance of autism, “autism-friendly” or “sensory-friendly” spaces or events are becoming more common. Autism-friendly environments are set up to accommodate the unique needs of individuals with autism, allowing those on the spectrum to comfortably enjoy the same experiences as their neurotypical peers.

Autism-friendly spaces often employ staff who are trained to understand the needs of individuals with autism. These spaces and events also take into account potential sensory sensitivities, taking care to avoid bright lights, jarring color schemes, loud or sudden noises, and odors. Events with food may provide detailed descriptions of ingredients and offer several options to accommodate various taste aversions. Learn more about sensory-friendly environments.
