Autism Screening Tools: M-CHAT and CAST

Only a qualified medical professional can diagnose your child with autism. However, there are screening tools you can use at home to better understand if your child shows signs of autism. Along with well-child visits with your child’s pediatrician, these autism screening tools are designed to help you determine if a formal autism evaluation is needed.

If you are located in Illinois and seeking a formal autism evaluation for your child, we can help you connect with a diagnostic provider.

The two most common autism screening tools are the Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers (M-CHAT) and the Child Autism Spectrum Test (CAST).
