M-CHAT-R: Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers, Revised

The Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers (M-CHAT) is an autism screening tool designed for parents of children ages 16 – 30 months. Consisting of 20 yes/no questions about your child’s behavior, the M-CHAT is designed to help you determine if further evaluation is needed.

In 2009, the M-CHAT was revised for improved accuracy. The M-CHAT, Revised (M-CHAT-R) may be completed at home, but should be used alongside regular well-child visits with your child’s pediatrician.

If the M-CHAT-R results indicate that your child shows signs of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), seek a formal evaluation as early as possible. If you are located in Illinois, a member of our team will help you connect with diagnostic provider.
